Upaya Yoga Bali is a Registered Yoga School with the Yoga Alliance USA. We offer 100 Hours Traditional Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. The 100hour Yoga Teacher Training Course in Bali (Pre-TTC) is part of the 200hr YTTC offered at Upaya Yoga Bali. The chief objective of 100 hours yoga teacher training is to create awareness of yoga and help you to find joy in your practice at a pace that is convenient for you.

This short-term yoga course is for students who do not have the time to complete the 200hr course, instead, Upaya yoga Bali offers the opportunity to complete the 200 hours TTC in two sections. These two sections must be completed within the year of commencement and the certificate will be awarded to the student once all of the required hours, assignments and examinations are successfully completed. Students may return to Upaya Yoga School to complete their 200 hours of training anytime within 36 months of completing the 100 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (Semester 1).

The course syllabus follows Yoga Alliance standards and includes learning the asanas of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series with an emphasis on how to teach in an injury-free way to all age groups. Course content

The Upaya Yoga 100h Yoga Teacher Training Course (YTTC) is aimed at producing skilled and motivating yoga teachers that are proficient in the ancient practices of the yoga sutras and can impart this knowledge to their students. The yoga teacher training curriculum is based on the five pillars of this art which can be understood as the practical application of the traditional paths of yoga. A rigorous daily schedule includes two meditation sessions, two yoga classes followed by lectures, teaching practices, and workshops.

Our aim is to offer you an in-depth understanding of the art of teaching yoga and clarify each query or confusion that may arise during a class. Students of the Upaya Yoga program get the opportunity to practice and learn the teachings of Hatha yoga, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga Vinyasa, their differences, postures, and reasoning behind each posture.

Our Curriculum Includes:

Asana Practice:

The program at Upaya is designed to offer its students a solid foundation in Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga, focusing on the right alignment of the yogic postures. A daily asana practice class gives the students an opportunity to practice their own asanas and helps to build deep insight into the various forms and postures. The daily in-depth practice with individual corrections comprises of the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), Multi-Style yoga postures, 100 asanas variations from intermediate to advanced level, Posture alignments and adjustments, Deep relaxation, and Release of blocked energy. Training sessions are suitable for all age groups.

In addition to daily asana practices, students learn how to break down and teach each posture, including the main benefits, modifications, and contraindications.

Yoga Philosophy (may be covered in semester 1 or 2, depending on course structure): 

Classical Yoga Philosophy is intertwined all through the course and you will receive knowledge about Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, allowing you to bridge classical and modern yoga and understanding the true meaning of Yoga. The dedicated yoga philosophy sessions provide a great insight into ancient wisdom and help reflect on all that you have learned in the course. In turn, you will learn how to imbibe these philosophies into your own life and will experience unison of the body, mind, and soul.

Pranayama, bandha, mudra:

Pranayama, or the science of breath control, is one of the Five Principles of Yoga. It expands lung capacity and relaxes the nervous system by balancing the two hemispheres of the brain. The art of Kapalabhati (lung cleansing exercise), Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing) and Samanu (mental cleansing of the nadis) will be taught.

Focusing on the rhythm of your breathing and becoming familiar with it is the essence of pranayama. This is a vital feature of yoga and is often neglected as most give more importance to physical practice. Pranayama is an excellent way to de-stress, build spiritual and emotional power, and sustain a healthy life each day.

Yoga Anatomy (may be covered in semester 1 or 2, depending on course structure): 

Through an introduction to the major body systems, you will study the effects of asanas and pranayama on the cardiovascular system, muscular systems, digestion, skeletal, respiration and endocrine system. These classes will give you a deeper understanding by observing the mechanism of every posture.

Our purpose is to give you knowledge of anatomy so that you leave with a better awareness of your own body and can apply this knowledge to teaching yoga in a safe manner. During the lessons, you will lay emphasis on how to adapt your practice by recognizing your weaknesses. These may be due to a lack of strength or flexibility in a particular area. You will learn preparation techniques to make improvements in your practice.  Throughout the classes, our assistant teachers provide you with complete personal attention to support you.

Centering Yourself: 

Your transformation journey begins with a daily exploration of yourself! This course is about Self Growth and includes coaching tools to take with you and apply to your life and future career as a yoga teacher.

Teaching Techniques and Practice Teaching:

In these hours you will learn and practice valuable tools and teaching methodology that will support you in becoming a powerful teacher. You will imbibe the ability to address a large group as well as learn to connect with each student in your class. You will explore the use of your voice, language, body language, visualization, ability to connect with your students confidently through verbal cues, the use of props, effective demonstration, and acute observation with safe and effective physical adjustments.

Yoga Successful Business (covered in semester 2): 

You will study and learn to effectively nurture and preserve abundance through your yoga teaching career. The end of your training session will equip you with a complete resume to immediately begin promoting yourself as a Yoga Teacher.

Typical daily schedule for 100-hour YTTC course:

  • 6.30 – 7.30 am: Chanting, pranayama, and meditation
  • 7.30 – 9.00 am: Monday, Wednesday and Fridays – Hatha yoga, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – Ashtanga Vinyasa
  • 9.00 – 10.00 am: Breakfast
  • 10.00 – 1.00pm: Alignment, adjustment, lecture
  • 1.00 – 2.00 pm: Lunch
  • 2.00 – 3.00 pm: Self Study/Self Care
  • 4.00 – 4.30 pm: Yoga Nidra
  • 4.30 – 6.00 pm: Teaching practice
  • 7.00 – 8.00 pm: Dinner
  • 8.30 – 9.30 pm: Sharing and question and answer, night meditation, live music concerts, watching your teaching practice or Yoga Movie on screen. (this is only alternate days)

After completing her 200hr TTC, she stayed in India helping the running of Upaya Yoga School. Since then, Ella has been teaching all around the world, studying and practicing, and has now settled in Bali to run Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Retreat. Rohil began his journey into yoga by coming into contact with meditation 6 years ago. In a quest to find his true Self, he visited many masters and guides from different parts of the country. Soon the realization dawned that the real Guru is within, and other masters are simply mirrors. A year later he began to complement his meditation practice with Ashtanga-vinyasa. He has spent long periods of time over the past few years with his teacher, Ajay Kumar(sthalam8) learning Ashtanga in the traditional Mysore-style. Soon afterward he began to teach, feeling the need to share the sacred practices that have brought about so much peace and fulfillment in his personal journey.
His unique style of teaching goes beyond simply the physical practice. The nurturing, yet challenging environment created in his classes pushes his students to tap into their inner potential. His intention is to bring about lasting inner transformation through asana practice.

Marylene is a Yoga Alliance RYT-500 yoga teacher who specializes in Yoga anatomy, therapeutic applications of yoga, Corporate Yoga and Yoga for depression, stress, and anxiety.

Her passion for yoga took a new turn when she helped a friend overcome depression through yoga. Curious about what other benefits a holistic approach to yoga could bring. She devoted her time and energy to study the 8 limbs of yoga. Splitting her life between a successful international corporate career and teaching yoga, she perfectly understood how everyday demands can get in a way of a healthy body and healthy mind, and used this experience to teach corporate yoga. In 2016, she decided to leave her corporate career to pursue a PhD in Osteopathy to deepen her knowledge of the physical body. She also completed her certifications as Reiki Master and Mindfulness coach.

Upaya Yoga 100-hour training packages

Our August-September 2018 program is hosted in the spiritual town of Ubud. The resort is strategically located in a quiet area and walking distance from the city center and Ubud’s main attractions.

Each Tuition Package Includes:

  • Airport transfer from DPS airport to the resort on the 18th of August

Each of the share accommodation units is located next to the yoga shala and hosts between 3 and 6 students with shared bathroom (max 3 people/bathroom).

The traditional bungalows are equipped with 2 single beds and en-suite bathroom to accommodate 2 students per room.

The 200 sqft private bungalows host a king size bed and private bathroom.

It is a true connection for those who enjoy being in nature, healing, and learning. With the idea of living simply and consciously within an organic environment, our rooms are designed so the natural world is very much a part of your experience. For your time with Upaya Yoga, you will be staying in century-old antique bungalows, original wooden houses brought over from remote villages in Java, decorated with beautiful carvings, 100% recycled teak wood. All balconies are facing the rice fields, with each with its own private outdoor garden.

Each bungalow has an attached mud-wall bathroom with passion fruits and vines climbing over the natural roof, semi-open to nature. All rooms are supplied with natural organic shampoo, soap and insect repellent.

500$ deposit is due within 15 days of registration. The remaining balance is due no later than the 30days prior to start date. If booked within 30 days to start date, full payment is required.
