Upaya Yoga in Rishikesh
Welcome to the Upaya Yoga in Rishikesh. We are proud to affirm that the location of Upaya yoga in Rishikesh is incomparable. We have a quiet and peaceful place surrounding by nature in Rishikesh. You can relax amidst the charm of the holy Ganga river. Our Rishikesh center is only a five minute stroll to the bazaar, amenities and Mother Ganga river. The center is built around a lush garden surrounded by views of the Himalayan foothills where you will feel the serenity of this legendary refuge. We offers a range of tasty Indian and western dishes and a selection of whole-food items.
Rishikesh is the world yoga capital and our school wants to truly pay homage to this recognition by offering the best surrounding both for yoga practice and spiritual journeys.
As the majority of us lives in busy cities nowadays, here it is possible to reawaken the senses instead and to forget about stress, rush, crowd and any type of modern artificiality. The hearing will be comforted by gentle sounds; the sight will be whetted by bright colors; the smell will be captivated by fresh aromas of the overwhelming nature.
There is a secret beauty in connecting with the self in such a pure and unadulterated setting and this blissful environment will surely enhance your skills and your capacity of introspection. To this purpose, the whole practice areas have recently been redesigned and rebuilt according to the holistic approach we peruse in all our courses and activities. We have indeed created a snug open area just in front of the Him river where you can flow into your asanas as water and another cozy open area facing the mountains to enhance balance during the practice.
Also, our indoor yoga shala is inspired by the same principles. This unique Yoga Shala consists of two floors both enlightened by a large one side open window facing the mountains and the Himalayan and Ganga rivers. The sight and the soul will never stop to be smoothed by such natural beauty. The first floor will be mainly used during retreats and special courses; the second floor instead will be dedicated to the 200 hours YTTC which will run all year round.
Sweet dreams and a homely feeling are assured by our accommodation which consists of characteristic and cozy clay cottages. They are decorated in a simple but comfortable manner and are provided with 24 hours electricity, attached bath with hot and cold shower, running tap water and A/C. They are all freshly refurbished. The center benefits of Wifi.
We are well prepared to face and make the best of any season in Rishikesh and we look forward to sharing this wonder with you!
Finally, below follows the note that one of our very first students wrote when we asked her to describe her experience at Upaya Yoga. We are pleased to share as you may like to read…
It is said that “beautiful things don’t ask for attention”. Leave the lively Laxman Jhula behind and take the road to the mountains, where you’ll find the rocky and dusty path that leads down to the Ganga. Your mind will start to wonder: “Where have you taken me?!”. By the time you’ve asked yourself this question, you will have already reached there. In between two scenic mountains and the clear water of the Himalayan river, lies Upaya yoga.
Before you realize, you will be surrounded by the stillness of these mountains, with the incessant river flow, different and identical at all times. The rustling of the trees, the wind blowing above the grass, the aroma of the luxuriant nature around you, the shining sun. The tweeting of hundred birds, the monkeys, the deer jumping from rock to rock and the stars flickering in the dark, they’ll all whisper to your soul these words: hear your inner voice.
In this silence, a sense of warmth and safeness will embrace you. This is what the Upaya yoga community resonates. A community of people unified by the same passion for yoga and the same values of honesty, generosity, and clarity. These values will inspire and sustain your yogic journey. As your asanas improve, a deeper and even more genuine change manifests the beauty of sharing and giving starts pervading and softening your soul. With each inhalation and exhalation, you leave fear behind, feeling stronger, finding a deeper connection with your inner-self, becoming more you.
And one day, while falling asleep rocked by the crickets’ chirp or, at sunrise, waking at the sound of the birds sing, you may find that rocky and dusty path was taking you home.
