60 Hours Yin Yoga Teacher Training

 

Yin Yoga is a complementary and synergistic practice to the most dynamic forms of yoga.

It is commonly defined as a passive practice in opposition to all the other styles of yoga which are considered active (hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa etc.). This definition originates from the specific way of exercising the body, without the engagement of the muscles. Whereas in Yin specific tissues and components of the body are passively stimulated. These tissues typically are: the joints, the ligaments, the fascia and the bones.

How does this happen?

It happens by performing the positions on the ground for a long period of time (which at the beginning can go from 2 to 5 minutes) and by applying a certain pressure on specific target areas. Then, we just allow the gravity to do the work and, by doing so, we will consciously stress- not stretch- the tissues mentioned earlier.

What are the benefits of such a practice?

The benefits of the practice of yin yoga, both at a physical and mental level, are numerous and deep.

One of the major reasons why we hold the poses for a long time, is the enhancement of the chi flow or prana –vital energy- through the whole body. The activation of the chi, according to the Chinese Meridians Theory, will refresh and restore the internal organs; a part from nourishing the tissues involved in each position performed during the practice.

Another major reason to hold the pose for several minutes is to allow us to work on the fascia. When we touch the fascia during the yoga practice many, ancient and recent, contractions, burdens and emotions can be eventually released. As a consequence, the nervous system also gets a very positive flushed out.

The mind also benefits immensely of this practice

The slow rhythm of yin yoga gradually brings an attentive and fearless practitioner into a meditative state of mind. This is a truly special time for exploration, observation, realization and finally transformation. It is the time when we stumble upon physical discomforts, subtle pain, thoughts and emotions. The beauty and the magic of yin yoga are that we eventually go beyond them, feeling more grounded, calm and peaceful at the conclusion of each practice.

Yin Yoga is a higher practice which anybody can enter and explore with appropriate guidance.

This training wants to provide a clear understanding of the main principles of Yin Yoga and genuine practical experience.

The student will be prepared to share his accomplishments at the conclusion of the Course.

The program includes:

  • A brief history of Yin Yoga.
  • The notion of  Yin & Yang.
  • Differences and complementary of Yin & Yang.
  • Elements of Chinese Meridians Theory.
  • Elements of Chakra Theory.
  • How to restore energy and balance in the body through the yin practice.
  • How to work on meridians pair through the practice.
  • Physical and mental benefits of Yin Yoga.
  • Mindfulness, meditation and self- inquiry.
  • 20 Major Yin Yoga Pose and possible variations.
  • Yin yoga anatomy.

What You Will Learn In This Training (Yin batch):

  • Yin Yoga basics.
  • Yin Yoga philosophy.
  • How to cue Yin Yoga smoothly and safely in a class.
  • How to give clear instruction (working with Voice).
  • Yoga anatomy (for Yin practice).
  • How to use props correctly.
  • How to theme and structure a Yin Yoga class.
  • Yogic breathing (Pranayama).
  • The methodology of teaching.
  • Teaching practice (45 min to 90 class)
  • Observation of peers.

The training will be structured according to the following timetable:

YIN YOGA TEACHER TRAINING SCHEDULE

  • 7.00 – 9.00 am: Yang practice and Meditation
  • 9.00 – 10.00 am:  Breakfast
  • 10.00 – 1.00 pm: History of Yin Yoga, Anatomy, Chakra Theory, Meridians Theory
  • 1.00 – 2.00 pm: Lunch
  • 2.00 – 3.30 pm: Self-study/ Self-care
  • 3.30 – 4.00 pm: Teaching Methodology
  • 4.00 – 6.30 pm: Yin practice/ Teaching practice
  • 7.00 – 8.00 pm: Dinner
